Class Etiquette
- Apply maximum effort
- Attend classes regularly
- Listen to instructors
- Learn with motivation
In our ongoing efforts to improve APEX standards for all, key items such as managing students, equipment, staff, and maintaining a safe, clean environment are important for us and our students/visitors. With the help of our affiliates at Carlson Gracie Jiu Jitsu and Bang Muay Thai, we’ve compiled a list that we think everyone will appreciate. Most of them you already do, so thank you!
To maintain a respectful, safe, and professional environment at APEX MMA, all students—whether training in Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, or other mixed martial arts (MMA) disciplines—must adhere to the following guidelines:
Always show respect to your training partners and instructors. Courtesy and discipline are essential in all martial arts, from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to Muay Thai kickboxing.
All students share responsibility for keeping the academy clean and safe. Mats and equipment are sanitized daily, but your cooperation is vital.
Arrive on time for class and stay until the end. If you need to leave early or arrive late, please inform your instructor in advance.
Classes begin with check-in and students lining up in descending rank—this applies to BJJ and Muay Thai.
Maintain focus during training. Avoid unnecessary conversation, especially when the instructor is demonstrating techniques.
Wear clean, odor-free training attire such as rashguards, MMA shorts, BJJ gi, or Muay Thai gear appropriate to the class.
Hats, outdoor shoes, and jewelry are not permitted on the mats.
Due to the close-contact nature of martial arts training, personal hygiene is mandatory. Please shower regularly, trim your nails, and stay home if you’re feeling unwell.
Report any injuries, illnesses, or skin conditions to your instructor before class. All skin issues must be addressed immediately before participating.
Students must represent our academy and affiliations with integrity—whether in class or at competitions and events.
Disrespectful behavior, foul language, discrimination, or bullying will not be tolerated in any form. Martial arts teach discipline, not aggression. Your membership will be cancelled with no refunds.
The techniques learned in Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, and MMA are for self-defense and personal development only. Never misuse your skills.
Take care of bathroom needs before class. Always wear flip-flops or footwear when off the mats, especially when using the restroom.
Students caught training with any contagious infection will be removed and may be banned from the academy.
Help us reduce waste—bring a full, reusable water bottle to class.
